About us

Civilekonomerna, The Swedish Association of Graduates in Business Administration and Economics, is a union and interest organization for professionals and students in business administration and economics in Sweden. With a current membership of about 38 000, the association also is active in policy-making and public debate. It is a member of the Swedish Confederation of Professional Associations (SACO) as well as of the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) and the European Quality Link, (EQUAL).

Membership

Being a member of our union entitles you to advice on work-related matters, such as checking employment contracts, employment benefits and advice on salary levels. In addition, you get advice and help (legally if needed) should there be issues at your work place which can not be solved locally. Civilekonomerna also offers career advice and arranges career-related seminars and lectures to which you have access as a member of the association. Furthermore, Civilekonomerna has many network groups for members. These groups meet independently. As a member of Civilekonomerna, you will also have access to insurance policies and other services to a reduced cost.

Our income insurance

One of the most important benefits for members is the income insurance which covers you after 18 months of membership. During 120 working days, the income insurance will guarantee 80% of your salary up to SEK 80 000/month, above what is covered by the Akademikernas a-kassa (AEA), the unemployment fund for university and college graduates. The maximum compensation from the unemployment insurance is therefore 14 960 SEK/month (80 percent of 18 700 SEK). 

In order to be covered by the income insurance handled by Civilekonomerna, you need to apply for membership with the Akademikernas a-kassa (AEA) as well. (You can apply for membership with AEA when you fill out the application form for membership with Civilekonomerna.) Civilekonomerna has a qualification period of 18 months of membership before the income insurance can be paid in case of unemployment. To get unemployment assistance from AEA,12 months of membership required. If you are currently a member of another unemployment fund, you need to get written proof of transition and send to AEA.
